First Claiming While Husband Watches
The Mandarin Oriental suite on the 38th floor smelled of fresh linen, oud wood, and the faint ozone of the city after rain. Sasi had checked them in under his own name — a quiet, efficient transaction at the front desk while David and Lauren waited in the lobby like any other couple meeting a business associate. No raised eyebrows. No questions. Just a keycard and a polite “Enjoy your evening.”

David closed the spreadsheet and let the glow of the three monitors wash over the dark Tribeca loft. Outside, the Hudson was a black ribbon threaded with the lights of Jersey. Inside, the only sound was the low hum of the HVAC and the occasional creak of the exposed brick as the old building settled for the night.
